GHAAAA Cabin Pressure Limerick-3
I was channeling my inner Icarus
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
Yes, I know...
Ah, just caution over different versions of a line in case R4 had an issue, but they trusted us and your communal intelligence - so the "sodding" version went out... #cabinpressure https://t.co/6qmLxA1mWj
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
(I didn't mean Uskerty. That's the opposite of a bottle episode - a road trip episode! I meant Xinzhou.) #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
I like to fill them disks up...
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
Not consciously... but as it happens I was at the recording of that episode, so I definitely heard it. So, hereby a ten year late apology to @RealDMitchell for accidentally ripping him off!
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
How did I not spot that?#cabinpressure https://t.co/qq4GgQM2ba
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
... and in the mildly unlikely event you haven't heard the rest of the shows, there's always this...! https://t.co/nL4vlzD7RX#CabinPressure https://t.co/elzakyv5Zm
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
...Yes, pretty sure it was me doing some ropy counting in the countdown. Which feels oddly thematic for this episode, given Martin's time-keeping, and everyone's question counting... #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
... and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it off the Pozzitive archive hard drive! pic.twitter.com/66ggjb0KFC
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
I will now go and see which running thread I missed / miscounted / forgot to pay off in the script. (I hope it's not the third one....) #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
- and thank you all so much for listening in - and props (no pun) to Radio 4 who almost never repeat things twice (ie put them out a third time) but thought this might be a lockdown treat. #CabinPressure https://t.co/elzakyv5Zm
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
I don't know if or when Radio 4 are planning to repeat series 3, but if they do, I'll be back! Thanks again, and... well, if you feel like buying me a coffee, do by all means go here https://t.co/q2sJlz4PkU , but as always there's absolutely no need. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Well. Sorry about that. Maybe I’ll do it again, properly, when it’s repeated on Radio4 Extra. In the meantime, I have certainly not earned a coffee, so there is no need to go to https://t.co/rLGdN6gHPP .
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 9, 2020
I'll go back and look in a minute. In the meantime, thank you very much for listening along, if you did, even when there wasn't technically anything to listen to. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Charades. 1. What have I missed...?
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Oh, yes, Omega is *so* much the Doomsday device, I'd forgotten that joke.... #cabinpressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
Oh, we already did sunset. 2.
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Evil names. 4. Martin's watch. 3.
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Last week I said Boncore was my favourite one word joke, but you know, it might actually be 'Boo!' #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Maybe ‘Boncore!’ Is my favourite one word joke in the series. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 9, 2020
Frankly, I always felt someone could run a writing course just on that that guessing-the-B sequence alone. #CabinPressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
Phonetic alphabet. 4 #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Thing in the box, and twenty questions (maybe don't count as two separate ones, actually but still. ) 5. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
One of the most valuable substances (by weight) in the world, apparently. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 9, 2020
I wasn't going to, not now not then... (unless I did and you rightly ignored me...) #CabinPressure https://t.co/2sNYeKk2dG
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
So, now we have to pay off all the threads. We start with 10. Love- lives. 9. Pie. 8. Limerick. 7. Vichny Volockek. Down to 6... #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
I mean, don’t count how many questions get asked in this game of Twenty Questions, whatever you do... #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 9, 2020
Wow, that's a mighty light switch there, he says, slightly shame-facedly #cabinpressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
And then, of course, Roger breaks it in an entirely different way... #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 9, 2020
One reason for breaking up poor old Douglas's marriage was so that I could do a love story for him later if I liked. Which I never did. POOR old Douglas. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Sorry to bang on, but how wonderful was -
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
MARTIN: Oh.
DOUGLAS: Mm.
MARTIN: I'm so sorry.
DOUGLAS: Thank you.#CabinPressure
I not only agree but also AGREE. I loved working on this scene#cabinpressure https://t.co/JWzhmIaYtJ
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
This amazing performance from Benedict is... I mean, this is the benefit of having three out of four actors who aren't just funny, but when he give them a chance can REALLY ACT. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Benedict does this speech so brilliantly. He breaks your heart, but with such a light touch... #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 9, 2020
Plus we got to hear the word "multimeter" which made me happy #CabinPressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
I said it last week, but I'll say it again: keeping the flight deck dark is a deliberate 'imaginary lighting' decision, to set up the secret sharing. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
That ‘fighter plane’ lighting change is deliberate to create a confessional atmosphere... #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 9, 2020
'Don't know, about ten' is me (and Martin) getting away with a LOT more than twenty questions. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
This is true about pilots hating perpetual sunsets, apparently #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 9, 2020
I think the structure of this episode was partly influenced by Harry Hill's live shows. He sets up lots of different strings of jokes, then comes back to one unexpectedly, and gets an extra laugh out of you having to realise where it fits in. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Stupid Douglas or possibly Producer... #cabinpressure https://t.co/omdimuf4DB
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
Not sure whether to join now, or to sort of time-shift it to later or tomorrow. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 9, 2020
10) Crew's love-lives. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
The deconstruction of Calista Flockhart - Steph at her most musical #cabinpressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
I've been holding the fort by singing your praises as a writer. and timekeeper. But mainly a writer #cabinpressure https://t.co/Xad5syDzAR
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
Not Latin, Douglas, Greek. Stupid, stupid Douglas. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
I love Roger's patient little 'Yes?' after 'check it for sea creatures'. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
HE'S HERE, PHEW https://t.co/Xad5syDzAR
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
Oh no! Have just realised (and by ‘realised’ I mean, @DavidTylerPozz has reminded me) that it’s Sunday, and therefore #cabinpressure ! And I’ve missed half of one of my favourite episodes...
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 9, 2020
This 'more you can possible imagine' moment is where the 'how many otters can fit in Gerti' originally went. We had to cut it for time, but I saved it up for Ottery... #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
I mean apart from the great ductility of gold, obviously #cabinpressure https://t.co/xyA4ySUDu3
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
I do terrible mnemonics like this for myself all the time, I don't know why. I remember how 'weird' is spelt, by remembering it's not the same as 'wired'. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
My favourite bit of physics in all of #cabinpressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
I still don't know how a plane flies upside-down btw
I have to say I'm very pleased at @JohnFinnemore s channeling some spherical trigonometry to write the sunset sequence... #cabinpressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
20? #cabinpressure https://t.co/PDK9WBDcSC
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
9) Twenty questions. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
All the phonetic alphabet scenes were amongst the most fun things to perform in the entire series. Also to write, actually. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
That beautful sequence of Michael shortenings that swerve round the correct one... #cabinpressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
8) Arthur's phonetic alphabet. #Cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
7) The sunset (Charades doesn't exactly count as a thread I think, it's just a set-up.) #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
I can't remember exactly, but something tells me that Ben & Roger REALLY enjoyed doing the Russell Crowe voice... #cabinpressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
Oh, also, the episode happens in real time, and in one location (flight deck, we only hear what happens in the cabin via intercom). One shot, as it were. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
@JohnFinnemore skill at tiny details that stand-up years later - 'Rulexes' and 'Obegas' #cabinpressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
6) Arthur heating the pie. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
I love the way Steph chips in on the intercom... #cabinpressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
3) Evil names 4) Rhymes for Vishy Volochek. 5) Martin's watch. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
I've actually forgotten how many running themes there are. Let's count them. 1) Mystery cargo. 2) As they say in Limerick. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Aha, the Limericks begin... #cabinpressure
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 9, 2020
Aw, and Martin's in on the joke for once. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Just checking my watch... and we're off... #cabinpressure pic.twitter.com/Kh3vL6h891
— David Tyler (@DavidTylerPozz) August 16, 2020
Roger's pacing on the cold open is just... superb. #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Of the three bottle episodes we did, this is the most entirely bottle-y. No guest actors, not even an ATC voice, and not even a hidden plot, like Fitton and Uskerty. Just bouncing between various running jokes and games, and some darkened cabin secret-sharing... #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Ok! This week's attempt at a Limerick tweet-along, will start at 7.15, by my genuine Patek Phillippe.... #cabinpressure
— John Finnemore (@JohnFinnemore) August 16, 2020
Tonight is the final episode of Cabin Pressure series 2, and we’re going out with a bang with Limerick! Just one hour to go until the brilliant @JohnFinnemore and @DavidTylerPozz will be live-tweeting the series finale - 19:15 on @BBCRadio4 ✈️ #cabinpressure
— Pozzitive Comedy (@PozzitiveComedy) August 9, 2020
Cabin Pressure is not on Radio 4 tonight; however, at 7.15, when it would have been, I’m going to tweet along with the final episode of series 2, ‘Limerick’, which I mostly missed last week due to idiocy beyond my control. #cabinpressure
